Big Fish Tutors come together with National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRCSE)

Big Fish Tutors has been working with NRCSE to fortify our service, aiming to provide the best learning experience possible for our students. NRCSE (National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education) are an external organisation that assess quality for supplementary schools in England so to obtain their Quality Mark, all of the 8 categories below must be accomplished to a high standard.
Areas that the NRCSE examine are:
  1. How we create and provide an effective learning environment
  2. Our teaching methods and how learning takes place
  3. How we monitor progress and celebrate achievement
  4. Resources employed for teaching
  5. Planning within the organisation
  6. Staff management
  7. Safeguarding
  8. Financial Management
Their fantastic guidance has further strengthened our safeguarding procedures to ensure that safety is unparalleled. In addition, we have improved our staff training – tutors now have access to a comprehensive guide that contains all relevant information to provide the best service possible. We are the proud acceptors of the NRCSE Quality Mark.

Tree planting with WCARA as part of National Tree Week

Have you heard of WCARA? WCARA stands for Wembley Central and Alperton Residents’ Association. They are a voluntary group committed to creating a greener, safer, cleaner environment for our local community.

On Saturday 23rd of November Shivani (Founder) attended the tree planting event alongside her family. Shivani recently discovered WCARA at a public community meeting and was amazed at the incredible work they do. WCARA aim to bring the concerns of our community to the forefront of our Council, try to enhance the quality of life experienced by families in the area and try to collate resources and information to benefit the community.

23rd of November to 1st December is #NationalTreeWeek which is a festival to mark the winter tree planting season. Trees are evermore important during this time of climate emergency and what a great way to get children and adults involved in something meaningful in our community!

We urge you to have a look at their website: http://www.wcara.org.uk/about-us and get yourselves and children involved in more WCARA activities/meetings.

Working with NRCSE to make learning more creative at Big Fish Tutors

On Thursday 7th November 2019, the founder of Big Fish Tutors Shivani Shah attended a networking event hosted by the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRCSE) exploring the theme of Creative Teaching and Learning.

The event was centred on channeling how arts can play a distinctive role in helping children to create meaning and make sense of the world, providing them with the essential skills they need to succeed in life. The session focused on the role that art and cultural learning play in transforming young people’s lives, and how it plays a fundamental role in providing supplementary support for school’s and teachers to adopt a more creative approach in their teaching. The NRCSE invited two amazing keynote guess speakers, Artis Foundation, who’s mission is to transform lives through art, and Tanzilia Zaman who is a motivational speaker and author.

Through presentations and interactive work shops, the event effectively explored how arts and cultural learning can widen pupil engagement, help enhance creativity, supports language learning and improve problem solving skills. The workshop gave us deeper insight on how Big Fish Tutors can embed creative arts into our academic curriculum.

New Pinner Centre

We have finally opened our next Big Fish Tutors centre on 108 Marsh Road, Pinner HA5 5NA!

We are happy to be closer to many parents who have seen us and wanted to join but we were too far!

Since January 2019 we have been focusing on ways to enhance our teaching methods and personal growth strategies; helping each child to blossom into a unique individual and supporting parents along the way.

We are so excited to be a part of the Pinner community and invite parents and children to visit our new, vibrant centre. Come and speak to the centre manager to discuss our programme in more detail. For more information call 07307 629498 or email info@bigfishtutors.com
