1. BUILD A DEN
You can use long cloth, old material, bedding, playhouses and anything you can think of to create a den in your living room or bedroom.
Dens are where magical and creative stories take place, inspire your child’s imagination and ask them to tell you a story.
2. PLAYDOH
Lockdown is probably stressful for your child, needing to stay within a small area of land is not usual for them. A great stress reliever can be playdoh. You can even make your own at home! Get creative, get colourful!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of plain flour
- 1 cup of salt
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- half to 1 cup of cold water
- 2 drops of liquid food colouring
Mix the dry ingredients and then add the wet. Knead well!
3. GROW YOUR OWN VEGES
You could find seeds from your local supermarket or order them online. Here are some that look fab!
- Grow Your Own Easy For Kids Kit
- Grow Your Own Mini Dinosaur Garden
- Children’s The Me Seeds Starter Kit
4. MAKE SOCK PUPPETS!
Get your child to think of a short story they love and choose a few characters from there. Use any old pair of socks to make a few sock puppets with your child. You can make them colourful and use different materials for the hair and face. Act out the story with your child; they can make up their own stories using the puppets or host a show for their siblings.
5. MAKE CRAFTS OUT OF WASTE
Get crafty! During the lockdown, you must be accumulating boxes and waste faster than usual! Create the best out of waste by using your cardboard boxes, plastic cartons and tin cans.
You can make:
- Bookmarks
- Tin Can Chimes or other Tin Can crafts
- Craft spiders (fluffy and jumping and button spiders)
You can find inspiration anywhere!
